Job Summary: The FP&A Manager and Controller will be responsible for initially directing and overseeing the organization’s financial and accounting functions, including billing, reporting, and tax, as EvolveNXT's first finance hire. This position ensures the integrity of financial statements, establishes and enforces internal controls, and manages financial risk. The candidate will work closely with senior leadership to drive financial strategy and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, accounting standards, and company policies. This candidate will ideally start as an individual contributor prior to the broader team being built out. This role will report to the COO / CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and key metrics, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports along with financials for quarterly board meetings
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners
- Maintenance of cash and accrual books
- Accounting Operations Management
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures that strengthen internal controls
- Lead system enhancements for financial processes (e.g., ERP system updates, automation initiatives) to improve accuracy and efficiency over time
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, long-range financial plans, and periodic forecasts
- Monitor performance against budget, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions
1-Year Markers of Success:
- Streamline our monthly invoicing process to systemize invoicing and tracking of all change-orders
- Develop efficiencies in creating and maintaining the Revenue cube and customer-by-customer financials
- Process creation for reporting on a cash and accrual basis
- Familiarity with every customer contract, contract details, and renewal dates
Ideal Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred)
- Certification: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required; CMA (Certified Management Accountant) a plus
- Work Experience:
- Previous controller / FP&A experience at a high-growth, private software company
- Player-coach mentality who isn’t afraid to dig into the excel
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including public accounting or auditing
- 1+ years of management or supervisory experience in an accounting/finance role
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis
- Very strong attention to detail
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
